PROGRAMS

The PhD program in Environmental Science and Engineering aims to cultivate high-level research talents with a strong theoretical foundation and innovative capabilities in the field of environmental science and engineering. The program's research areas include environmental pollution and health, environmental ecology and agricultural environmental protection, biological environmental protection and agricultural resource utilization, and environmental治理 engineering and equipment. Through interdisciplinary research, the program aims to advance technological progress in environmental protection and sustainable resource utilization, addressing current environmental pollution and ecological degradation issues, and providing strong technical support for global ecological environmental improvement and green development goals.

Program Features

Environmental Pollution and Health
This research focuses on the impact of environmental pollution on human health, exploring the transmission routes, toxic mechanisms, and biological effects of pollutants, and developing pollution prevention technologies and health risk assessment methods to enhance the coordinated development of environmental protection and public health.
Environmental Ecology and Agricultural Environmental Protection
Research in this area addresses environmental ecological issues in agricultural production, studying pollutants in agricultural ecosystems and their control technologies. The goal is to promote the green transformation and ecological protection of agricultural environments, striving for a harmonious coexistence between agricultural production and environmental protection.
Biological Environmental Protection and Agricultural Resource Utilization

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Academic Requirement: Master Degree

Score Requirement: Above 70% or B or equivalent

HSK Requirement: Chinese medium: HSK-Level 4

English Requirement: English medium: Ielts: 6; Toefl: 70 or other equivalent.
GRADUATE REQUIREMENTS

Overseas students whose major language of instruction is Chinese should reach Level 5 of the International Chinese Language Proficiency Standard upon graduation. Overseas students whose teaching language is a foreign language should reach at least Level 3 of the International Chinese Language Proficiency Standard.

The graduate students who have completed the courses and required parts as stipulated in the cultivation program within the prescribed study period, passed all the exams and the dissertation and met other requirements of the university for graduation will be granted graduation and issued the graduation certificate, and the degree certificate will be issued if they meet the requirements for degree conferment.
FEE STRUCTURE

Following expenses are for first year only

Application Fees: CNY 200

Registration Fees: CNY 400

Physical Examination: CNY 550 (to be paid to Entry-Exit Inspection undefinedamp; Quarantine Bureau)

Annual Expenses from first year to last year

Tution fee: CNY 28,000 / year. JIANGSU UNIVERISTY PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Free tuition fee and accommodation fee for the first year (Discount on Tuition). For PHD degree programs, the scholarship will be renewed once a year after annual evaluation of the student's performance (awarded scholarship from second year may increase or decrease according to evaluation points).

Accommodation fee: CNY 4,500 to 4,900 per person per academic year (Double-room)

Insurance Fee: CNY 600 / year (to be paid to the life insurance company)

Resident Permit: CNY 400 every time (to be paid to Public Security Bureau by candidate)

Books: Flexible, about CNY 600 /year

Living expenses: Approximately CNY 1,000 /month (Depends on your personal budget)
APPLICATION MATERIALS

1. Apply at “Online Application System” http://admission.ujs.edu.cn;

2. Passport: A scanned copy of the passport's main page (valid until after September 30, 2025). Applicants with previous experiences in China should provide scans of all documents related to Chinese visas and residence permits.

3. Original or Notarized Degree Certificates: Original or notarized copies of all degree certificates starting from the undergraduate level. Current graduates should provide a pre-graduation certificate issued by their universities (graduation date should be before February 28, 2025). The original degree certificates must be submitted upon registration.

4. Original or Notarized Transcripts: Transcripts for all courses taken starting from the undergraduate level.

5. CV: Include a chronological list of educational experiences from the undergraduate level onward. Applicants with previous educational experiences in China should include all study experiences.

6. Study Plan: At least 800 words, include details about applicants' educational and work background, academic achievements, research plans, and personal development goals. Ph.D. applicants should also provide a detailed academic research plan.

7. Language Proficiency Proof: Applicants from non-English speaking countries should provide scanned copies of TOEFL, IELTS, GRE scores, or other documents proving their English proficiency.

8. Two Recommendation Letters: Either Chinese or English and signed by associate professors or professors in a relevant field.

9. Foreigner Physical Examination Form: Applicants must undergo a medical examination following the items listed in the form. The examination results are valid for 6 months.

10. Financial Statement: Either the family deposit certificate, property certificate or parent/guardian income certificate with a recommended minimum value of $5,000 USD or equivalent.

11. Non-criminal Record within 6 months.

12. List and Abstracts of Published Academic Papers.
