Overseas Education College was established in 2011 as the central administrative unit for international students of Jiangsu University. Jiangsu University is among the first batch of Chinese higher education institutions to have received the Higher Education Quality Certification for International Students (one of only 27 universities nationwide). In 2023, it successfully passed the first recertification with an A-grade, obtaining an 8-year certification validity period (one of only 7 universities nationwide, and the only one in Jiangsu Province). As a host institution for Chinese Government Scholarship international students and a target university for the "Study in Jiangsu" initiative, the university has been consecutively recognized as an “Advanced Unit for International Student Education in Jiangsu Province” and received the title of “Outstanding Contribution Unit for International Student Education in Jiangsu Higher Education Institutions” for both 2024 and 2025.

Currently, the university offers international students 78 undergraduate programs taught in Chinese, 23 undergraduate programs taught in English, 42 master's degree programs (in Chinese/English), and 15 doctoral degree programs (in Chinese/English). It has established 4 full-fee, full-coverage CSC A-standard preparatory programs, 9 national and provincial-level international summer school programs, and 7 overseas preparatory education centers. The university's degree-seeking international student population has consistently ranked among the top in Jiangsu Province, with students originating from 122 countries across five continents, and the proportion of graduate students steadily maintained at over 55%. As of April 2026, the university has developed over 500 English-taught courses, of which 4 have been designated as Ministry of Education Brand English-taught Courses, and 25 have passed provincial-level accreditation as High-Quality English-taught Courses in Jiangsu Province. The university has also received recognition for one National Excellent Course on China's National Conditions for International Students, one “Sino-Foreign Youth Social Practice Base,” 4 Provincial Excellent Courses on China's National Conditions for International Students in Jiangsu Higher Education Institutions, and 2 Provincial Bases for China's National Conditions Education for International Students in Jiangsu Province.

Since 2023, Jiangsu University has remained committed to the overarching goal of pursuing high-quality development in international education. A series of strategic efforts have been systematically implemented, including expanding the recruitment of outstanding international students, enhancing the quality of educational programs, strengthening education on Chinese national conditions, upgrading signature campus events, leveraging the university's competitive academic disciplines, and improving cost efficiency. These concerted actions have led to steady progress and earned the university a strong reputation in the field.
