PROGRAMS

The Master's program in Chinese Materia Medica aims to cultivate high-level professionals with a solid foundation in TCM theory, research methods, and practical skills. Students will deeply study the chemical composition of Chinese herbs and natural medicines, quality evaluation of Chinese medicine, research on new dosage forms and formulations, pharmacology, and toxicology of Chinese medicine, developing comprehensive skills in Chinese Materia Medica development, production, quality control, and clinical application. The program emphasizes the integration of theoretical knowledge and practical abilities, providing students with a strong research foundation and innovative thinking, preparing them to become experts in this field.

Program Features:

Comprehensive TCM Training:
This program covers key areas of TCM, such as chemical composition of Chinese herbs, quality evaluation of Chinese medicine, and TCM resource development, helping students gain a well-rounded understanding of the discipline's development and research trends.
Innovation Research Training:
Focusing on research into new dosage forms and formulations of Chinese medicine, students will be involved in the development of innovative pharmaceutical products, promoting the modernization and internationalization of TCM.
TCM Quality Control and Evaluation:
The program includes courses on TCM quality evaluation and resource development, teaching students how to scientifically assess the quality of Chinese medicine and understand sustainable utilization of TCM resources.
Pharmacology and Toxicology of TCM:

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Academic Requirement: Bachelor Degree

Score Requirement: Above 70% or B or equivalent

HSK Requirement: Chinese medium: HSK-Level 4

English Requirement: English medium: Ielts: 6; Toefl: 70 or other equivalent.
GRADUATE REQUIREMENTS

Overseas students whose major language of instruction is Chinese should reach Level 5 of the International Chinese Language Proficiency Standard upon graduation. Overseas students whose teaching language is a foreign language should reach at least Level 3 of the International Chinese Language Proficiency Standard.

The graduate students who have completed the courses and required parts as stipulated in the cultivation program within the prescribed study period, passed all the exams and the dissertation and met other requirements of the university for graduation will be granted graduation and issued the graduation certificate, and the degree certificate will be issued if they meet the requirements for degree conferment.
FEE STRUCTURE

Following expenses are for first year only

Application Fees: CNY 200

Registration Fees: CNY 400

Physical Examination: CNY 550 (to be paid to Entry-Exit Inspection undefinedamp; Quarantine Bureau)

Annual Expenses from first year to last year

Tution fee: CNY 26,000 / year. JIANGSU UNIVERISTY PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP: CNY 20,000 first year (Discount on Tuition). For master's degree programs, the scholarship will be renewed once a year after annual evaluation of the student's performance (awarded scholarship from second year may increase or decrease according to evaluation points).

Accommodation fee: CNY 4,500 to 4,900 per person per academic year (Double-room)

Insurance Fee: CNY 600 / year (to be paid to the life insurance company)

Resident Permit: CNY 400 every time (to be paid to Public Security Bureau by candidate)

Books: Flexible, about CNY 600 /year

Living expenses: Approximately CNY 1,000 /month (Depends on your personal budget)
APPLICATION MATERIALS

1. Apply at “Online Application System” http://admission.ujs.edu.cn;

2. Passport: A scanned copy of the passport's main page (valid until after September 30, 2025). Applicants with previous experiences in China should provide scans of all documents related to Chinese visas and residence permits.

3. Original or Notarized Degree Certificates: Original or notarized copies of all degree certificates starting from the undergraduate level. Current graduates should provide a pre-graduation certificate issued by their universities (graduation date should be before February 28, 2025). The original degree certificates must be submitted upon registration.

4. Original or Notarized Transcripts: Transcripts for all courses taken starting from the undergraduate level.

5. CV: Include a chronological list of educational experiences from the undergraduate level onward. Applicants with previous educational experiences in China should include all study experiences.

6. Study Plan: At least 800 words, include details about applicants' educational and work background, academic achievements, research plans, and personal development goals. Ph.D. applicants should also provide a detailed academic research plan.

7. Language Proficiency Proof: Applicants from non-English speaking countries should provide scanned copies of TOEFL, IELTS, GRE scores, or other documents proving their English proficiency.

8. Two Recommendation Letters: Either Chinese or English and signed by associate professors or professors in a relevant field.

9. Foreigner Physical Examination Form: Applicants must undergo a medical examination following the items listed in the form. The examination results are valid for 6 months.

10. Financial Statement: Either the family deposit certificate, property certificate or parent/guardian income certificate with a recommended minimum value of $5,000 USD or equivalent.

11. Non-criminal Record within 6 months.

12. List and Abstracts of Published Academic Papers.
