Dear OECians, the summer vacation of 2024 will begin from July 13th and classes for next academic semester will begin from September 2nd.

This post is a compilation of JSU on-campus services, OEC events & services during the vacation. For your convenience, please take note of all these information and save this post for future use. We wish you a safe and happy vacation.

Note: All students shall return to campus by September 1st and prepare for the new academic semester.

SERVICES

CANTEENSThe following canteens shall operate normally during the vacation:

Canteen 1, Canteen 3, Canteen 4, Teachers' Canteen and KFC at International Canteen

All canteens on campus resume operations from Sep. 1st

CAMPUS CARD RECHARGE

Offline Recharge

Timings: 09:30-12:30 (Every Tuesdays)

Online Recharge

Please note that students can recharge their campus cards through kiosks available in dorm reception as usual or also through JSU enterprise account.

CAMPUS BUS

Campus bus will not operate from Jul. 13th and will resume from Aug. 31st.

Reading rooms on 1st and 2nd floors:

Timings: 08:00-22:00 (Everyday)

Reading rooms on 3rd and 4th floors:

Timings: 08:30-17:30 (Every Tuesdays)

Book borrowing Services:

Timings: 08:30-11:30; 14:00-17:30 (Every Tuesdays)

Note: Borrowing time limit for books shall be automatically extended for vacation period.

CAMPUS GATESXuefu Road Gate 1, 2 and Guyang Road Gate 1 (Jing Gate) will be open and be managed as per campus regulations.

RESIDENCE PERMIT

For students whose residence permits expire during vacation, please process your residence permit application at OEC 1301 or 1307 on the following days only:

Timings: Jul. 29th, 30th, August 29th & 30th (09:00-11:00; 14:30 to 16:30)

PLEASE REMEMBER TO CLEAR ALL FEE AND REGISTER RESIDENCE INFORMATION BEFORE YOU APPLY FOR RESIDENCE PERMIT AT OEC. Please note that you will take own responsiblity if your visa expires.

PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELLING

Students who face problems like depression, culture shock, anxiety or other mental health issues are requested to contact their class teacher. We will guide you accordingly and help you maintain a healthy study atmosphere.

Also, students can make appointment for free professional online counselling

OEC DUTY TIMETABLE

值班时间 Duty Timings: 8:30-11:30 & 14:30-17:00

The safety reminders for the summer holidays are as follows, please read carefully and inform each other. Wish you enjoy a safe and happy holiday!

1. All overseas students are requested to follow the Chinese laws and regulations along with JSU rules. For your safety, please avoid late night hangouts and illegal work. We also encourage you to maintain a healthy lifestyle during the vacation and avoid abuse due to alcohol, smoking or drug usage.2. We are planning to organize a lot of student events to make your vacation resourceful and fun-filled. Please actively participate and improve a positive social and physical lifestyle.

3. Your class teacher can offer helpful details on summer vacation travelling rush. You are all encouraged to stay in touch with class teacher and timely update your travel plans.4. Students should only participate in religious activities at lawfully registered Buddhist monasteries, Taoist temples, mosques, churches within Chinese territory. Please avoid to organize or participate in any illegal assembly, rally, campaign, or protests. 5. Be aware of "online easy money" traps or forex/bitcoin investments and also scholarship scams which are recently very commonly faced by foreign students. While shopping online, please make sure the seller is certified and requests legal transactions. If any seller asks you to make transaction outside of shopping platform, you must take extra care so as to avoid being scammed. DO NOT TRANSFER MONEY TO UNKOWN PEOPLE.DO NOT BLINDLY BELIEVE IN FOREX OR BITCOIN PROFITS.

NO WILD SWIMMING

“Wild Swimming” refers to the swimming activities in non-accredited venues.

Wild swimming may seem fun, especially in hot summer. However, we strongly recommend students not to neglect safety. There are many rivers, reservoirs, and ponds in Zhenjiang that reported drowning accidents caused by “wild swimming”. Please find qualified swimming pools to satsify the needs and do not go into other unsafe venues for swimming.

Previously, OEC received complaints that overseas students swam in a valley river in Nanshan. The depth is over 40 meters and any accidents will cause a great loss. Swimming without safety is NOT fun!
