Dear OECians,We thank all students for making our dorms a pleasant place to live comfortably. It is also our duty to keep it safe by following these safety regulations which are designed according to the safety management requirements of the University for the benefit of international students living within the University premises and off-campus. They are aimed at eliminating potential dangers such as harm to students, electric shock, accidents, and fire outbreaks. Therefore, all electrical equipment and appliance must comply with the standards below and we request you all to:

1. Electrical appliances which have a 3C certification mark (China Compulsory Certification);

2. Use electric water kettles and stoves/cookers only in public kitchen and not in rooms;

3. Avoid electrical appliances with power exceeding 700W.

4. Stay away from usage or possession of heating appliances or equipment which are strictly prohibited in the dormitory;

5. Take precaution while using electricity and refrain from distorting the connections and circuits in dormitory, corridor, laundry room and public kitchen. Modifying the power supply lines and facilities in the apartment are extremely dangerous;

6. Avoid using damaged extension cables and do not overload them by using heavy appliances or mutliple extensions. Please note that placing the extension cable on bed can make it hot or catch fire making the fire spread even more rapidly.

7. Turn off all the appliances, plugs and lights when you leave the dormitory. For your safety, use the rechargeable appliances (including gadgets and laptops) only when you are in the room;

8. Inform the reception and please wait for the professional personnel for repairs or maintenance.

9. Cut-off the electricity in case you notice smoke, sparks and burning odor while using electric appliances. Pleasese inform the dorm reception immediately to avoid major damages.

10. Avoid the use of open fire such as candles, incense etc which endanger dorm security. Please do not smoke in the dormitory and remember to place the mosquito repellent incense inside the iron box;

11. Enhance the awareness of safe electricity utilization, grasp fire prevention knowledge both on-campus and off-campus.

We all wish that tragedies should not happen!

Please take fire prevention and safety as everyones' responsibility. Small negligence and carelessness could cause huge damage.
