Lantern Festival is one of the most remarkable Chinese festivals. On 20thFebruary, international students from Ghana, India, Congo, Bengal and other countries went to Yang Jia Men community, Jinshan Road, Runzhou district in Zhenjiang and celebrated Lantern Festival with local community residents in advance.

Once they stepped into the community, they could feel the atmosphere of the Spring Festival and the enthusiasm of the local people. First of all, the origin and customs of Lantern Festival were introduced; Zakari the student from Ghana who excels in Chinese translated them to make students know Chinese Lantern Festival more clearlY.

Like every Chinese festival, Lantern Festival has its specficl food: Sweet Dumplings. Under the guidance of local people, the international students made, cooked and tasted the sweet dumplings. Though the sweet dumplings may not be in the correct shapes, the students enjoyed them very much. After the delicious food, the international students guessed lantern riddles, enjoyed beautiful lanterns and talked about the customs with the community residents.

Experiencing the traditional folk of Lantern Festival can not only let the international students have a better understanding of Chinese traditional culture and get a release from heavy study works, but also can accelerate the spread and improvement of Chinese culture.
