SOCIETY OF AGRICULTURAL MECHANIZATION (SAM) VISITS

CAMCO MACHINERY & EQUIPMENT CORPORATION (CAMCO) HEADQUARTERS 

Shanghai ,27th November, 2017.

    Members of the SAM had the opportunity to visit CAMCO MACHINERY & EQUIPMENT CORPORATION (CAMCO).The main objective behind the visit was to make students aware how CAMCO carries out its various activities related to Agriculture and Mechanization as well as human resource management carried out in the company. It aimed to give them feel of the Agri-Business aspect of farm productivity. CAMCO Agricultural Machinery Corporation has its headquarters in Shanghai but its major operations are in Africa – Zambia and Malawi.

   38 students arrived at the premises of CAMCO at 11:45am and were warmly welcomed by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (D-CEO) and other senior executives of the company. After the exchange of pleasantries, the Deputy CEO introduced the company and explained its mode of operation in detail.

COMPANY PROFILE

   CAMCO GROUP is a consortium of Nine (9) companies who have investment in Africa, with specific reference to four countries namely; Zambia, Malawi, Kenya and Cameroon. The headquarters is stationed in Shanghai, China. The group operations covers agricultural, construction, heavy duty/earth moving, general industrial machinery, generators, pumps and motors, among others. The group is also into real estate and construction, retailing and numerous ventures, particularly in Zambia. The Group’s CEO is Mr. Li Tie.

    It was founded in 1998 with nearly 20 years operation in Africa, employing over 650 workers, of which 10% are expatriate staff and the rest being local staff. It has created jobs for  younger entrepreneurs from their various supply activities. The main center of activities is in Zambia and the business domain is agricultural and construction machinery trade. CAMCO Group has over 20 business partners such as YTO, WEICHAI, MASTRA, ZOOMLION, JINMA, SUMEC, JANDONG, SKYSEA and many others.

    CAMCO Group’s customers across their business segments comprise of farmers of all scales, processing companies, civil engineering and construction contractors, governments and NGOs, distributors and after-sales service operators. Supplying wide range of products with superior quality at affordable and competitive pricing.  The students learnt a lot not only about the company but about its business activities.
