Civil Engineers' Company Tour | AIES Practical Experience
On 9th December we, the engineering students of Jiangsu University went for a tour whereby we visited a designing company and few construction sites. As an engineering student who is about to graduate, I was so excited and interested to see how companies work. The most important and beneficial thing I learned from the tour is how the Chinese do their investigation and survey before they start any construction and the materials they use as an engineer. I also realised that if I get connected with some Chinese company, learn with them and gather some experience, that can help in making changes in our own countries.
The other thing that motivated me is how to prepare myself for the next step and start to look at myself as an engineer in the site or at the designing company investigating or surveying. We hope to have more tours so that we can have practical knowledge of what we learn from our classrooms.
The advice I can give to other students is that they have to concentrate on their theory classes because on the sites we will be using the knowledge we got from the classes. There will be no one to teach and we have to be conscious about what we are studying so that it won't be a burden when we are on the site as a worker or an engineer. The more we practice, the more we know.
