As a requirement for all freshmen, and a prerequisite for graduation, the survey for the second batch of 2017 autumn freshmen took place on Friday, 1st December 2017 for both undergraduates and postgraduates between 18:00 and 20:00 at the old Library. The purpose of the survey as usual, was to care for the living and learning adaptability as well as providing better mental health services to new students enrolled in this semester.

The survey was done online with a specific internet link. Students answered specific questions relating to personal or interpersonal psychological and emotional character and behaviour on campus. Topics involved covered different aspects of students endeavour.

As it has always been the bed-rock of this participatory exercise, the OEC Psychology counseling centre, provided instructions clearly and appointed some members of the Peer Support Team (HeART) to help in the monitoring and supervision. This plan led to smooth and effective survey exercise which ended successfully.

Students who couldn’t undertake the first test due to pertinent reasons expressed the glad for much improvement in the computerized system of the exercise. After the test, some also said the survey critically assessed their psychological and emotional feelings, as it covered greater percent of their life on campus.

Berfu Ucan, who represented Miss Lu Yin, the counsellor of OEC, also expressed her gratitude for the support from OEC, students’ collaboration during the test, improvement in the system and the assistance of the HeART core members (PST). She also hoped the results could be utilized in improving the living and study experience of overseas students in JSU.

Announcement of the plan for students who couldn’t avail themselves for the test will be made known at the appropriate time.

About 130 of freshmen (undergraduate and postgraduate) participated in this survey.
