The long awaited final round of the Physiology trivia dubbed as ‘The Grand Finale’ finally took place on Saturday, March 31, 2018 and it was indeed a showdown amongst some of the University’s finest intellectuals. The tension was visible as ten contestants had to battle through series of challenging questions with the hopes of being crowned as part of this year’s top five champions in physiology.

The event was part of a series of three screening tests that were carried out to meticulously select five contestants who out of an initial number of ninety six, will represent Jiangsu University in the upcoming Physiology trivia competition at both regional and national levels. The competition included three rounds; two of which comprised of a series of multiple choice questions that were tackled individually and the final round which involved the contestants working together in two groups of five in order to solve a case study. The questions were generally described by both the contestants and audience as being tougher than those of previous years.

During the break, Speeches were given by The Dean of OEC, Professor Jing Gao and the patron of IMSA Professor Xu Xiao and both emphasized the importance of Physiology in the field of Medicine and encouraged more students to participate in academic events. Awards were given to deserving students comprising of those who took part in the recent Drawing competition and those that were part of the IMSA First-Aid team.

The Grand Trivia concluded with 5 winners reigning the competition; Matter Maryam Omar, Calvin Yee Fen Lee, Vincent Raja Sharmilla, Abdihakim Ali Nour and Selendra Reddy Mogandra to represent the university in the next round of competition. As the saying goes “not everyone that loses is a loser” the remaining 5 members; Patel Rahenuma Yusuf, Musiyazwiriyo Selina Vimbai, Eleanor Nswana, Gaudani Ankit and Tapiwa Mandoza will serve as a substitution team.

The ten contestants were encouraged to continue working hard as this was just the beginning of a formidable journey. The next step will be the regional competition that will be held in Xuzhou city this April and hopes are set high as our champions will represent our University with the aim of being once again crowned as the regional champions of physiology.
