Nice to Meet You | Overcome Transition & Bonding Time

In the land of diversified culture and great historical facts which is racing for the trophy of education, technology and economic prosperity.  Here I come from the place of afar.

Nothing triggered my journey except the discovery of your intellectual artefact. But it’s undeniable fact that I tried to track the route of my ambition through the rocks of success like the adventure of Jacky Chan.

Looking at me are noble people whom are unfamiliar to me. How do I approach them? Who do I go to? Who should I ask for assistance?

Raising my head, the telescope of my vision set on the inscription of…..”Nice to meet you”.

It was organized at the Overseas Students Restaurant on Saturday, March 24th, 2018 at 7:30pm.

OEC Counselling Centre and HeART (Psychology Association of International Students) organized the above program and presented freshmen/women the opportunity to meet new friends, relieve the anxiety surrounding their new environment while they bond with others.

The program begun with a warm welcome address from Moses and Berfu who introduced the Peer Support Team (PST) as well as the purpose of the programme to the audience.

Afterwards, participants were divided into various groups to undertake fun-Puzzle games of varied kinds from which members can win a surprise prize!

Rules of the game were set and the competition begun. This was an interesting scene, seeing each group trying to complete a set of game (ROOM) to the next in order to emerge as the winners.

Laughter, smile, cheers among other were the “tribal” mark on the participants’ faces.

The set of games (ROOMS) included, general questions about campus, making a human pyramid, drawing the map of the neighbour’s country, Riddles, Balloon pass and finally, it was wrapped with the Knot-game.

Miss Berfu, the coordinator for the program gave the closing remarks and announced the winners of the competition. In all, Group 3 emerged as winners and Sheikh Farhan handed the prizes to them.

Many participants expressed their enthusiasm and hoped for similar programs in the future. The HeART executives also observed great improvement in this semester’s event through the collaboration and cooperation within the groups consisting of members with diverse cultural backgrounds including Chinese comrades. About 30 participants were present and the program successfully ended at 8:35pm.
