(Sep.1st, 2018 - Sep.20th, 2018)

On Sep.1st 2018 I along with my group members from Jiangsu University got a chance to be a part of a Training Program “International Abdominal Acupuncture and Pain Therapist”. This trip was hosted by specialized TCM practitioners and great Chinese doctors that enable us to explore the ancient and modern world of TCM which was preserved since Qing Dynasty till date. 2 OECians, Asad, Ismael and one JSU Post-Doc Ahsan joined the training.

What is TCM?

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) [pinyin; Zhōngyī] is a traditional chinese health care system that is based on 2,500 years of Chinese medical practice. TCM stands on the philosophy of Yin-Yang -defined as opposite energy. When yin and yang are in balance, you feel relaxed and energized. Out of balance, however, yin and yang negatively affect your health. The goal of TCM is to balance Yin-Yang state which western science defined as homeostasis – the ability of the body to maintain a stable, constant internal environment. When in balance, all systems and parts of our body works optimally. Daily energy is sufficient. Sleep is restful. Pain is absent and we feel great! So, when we start to get imbalanced, all kinds of negative symptoms arise. These are clues that tell us our systems are slipping out of Yin-Yang balance. Here TCM helps to diagnose, treat, and prevent illnesses by stimulating the body’s own healing mechanism via certain therapies such as acupuncture, moxibustion and application of muscle contact needle pain in chronic pain management along with supportive massage therapy and herbal medication.

What is the training being about?

Training Program titled “International Abdominal Acupuncture and Pain Therapist” organized by China-Arab States Youth Entrepreneurship Park aims to introducing traditional Chinese medical technologies to Western medical professionals in order to promote the health status of the people.

Travelling to TCM practices and plantation sites

We start our training from Beijing with the welcoming speech from Dr. Xing Ji GU0 followd by lessons and workshops on ancient and modern TCM clinical techniques. As the training progress we learn more about TCM practices whose efficiency was well supported by a large number of research and clinical practice. During the training we have visited the new china Africa Park exhibition, CCTV studio meteorological data center, China science technology museum, TCM clinics, Tea house and medicinal herb cultivation area.

We have also visited different cities to know the exposure of traditional Chinese medicine like Qingdao and zhucheng city where we visit high agricultural entrepreneurship demonstration area. Heading towards Zhejiang, lishui city we meet with the different diplomats of china. And visiting the planting base in suicheng and tea base of fengshui and cultural exposure of Chinese herbal medicine and investigation of TCM planting and traditional Chinese medicine production technology in weikang pharmaceutical factory.

TRAINING COURSE OUTCOME:

The outcome of this training course was marvellous. We have learned different therapies that can be used to treat and manage different chronic diseases and pain. I also support the idea of introducing TCM into modern medical practices that helps to cure illness more effectively.
