OECians Explore China's Marvels During Xi‘an Tour

Organized by OEC , a few of CSC and excellent students traveled to Xi’an to explore the wonders of China, Xi’an has the very appeal calling that tops other China destinations due to its long history. Before we landed in Xi’an Xianyang International Airport, we pictured our first encounter for many a time and to learn the deep culture and relationship of China , On a four days adventure starting from Nov. 23rd.

On Day 1 we visited the ancient Terra-cotta warriors to witness true history being uncovered even up to recent day, It’s pretty amazing that one of the 20th Century’s greatest discoveries and one of China’s most famous tourist sites was found by peasants digging a well. The collection of 6,000 soldiers and horses, constructed to protect the tomb of the Emperor Qin Shi Huang, is over 2,000 years old and so big that it’s actually housed in an over sized airplane hangar. Later on we went to Huaqing palace with the help of a tour guide.

Day 2, after refreshing our minds, we went to a place called Yuan jia cun, and later in the afternoon visited an underground museum were we further deepened our knowledge and understanding about the great Mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang.

On day 3, we went to the Muslim Quarter (Huimin Jie) Beiguangji Street and Beiyuanmen Street which run from north to south, and meet with Dapiyuan Street and Xiyangshi Street and form the area known as the Muslim Quarter. Apart from the area been bustling, busy and noisy? It was filled with different smells, that is the first impression of the Muslim Quarter. For fellow Chinese, this is a good place for local cuisine (mostly Halal) and survivors. Lamb Paomo, a bowl of lamb soup with torn-up bread soaking in it, is a must-try delicacy. Pepper salt walnuts, Iraqi dried dates, dried Tomatoes, almonds and persimmon cakes are seemingly the best sellers. We also went to the Small Wild Goose pagoda which is located inside Ci’en Temple.

After heading back to Kunming Garden Hotel to freshen up and rest, it was finally day 4, we then went to the city wall, and no the great wall isn’t the only famous Wall in China. Xi’an is one of the few cities in China where the old city walls are still standing. We also went to the drum tower. On the same day, it was final time to close the history book and call it the end game. We returned back to Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province and back to the beloved Jiangsu Univeristiey.
