18th April, 2019, the long awaited event that marks the beginning and end of two different regimes. Organized in the JTQ hall, the ceremony officially started at 7:00pm, with an opening speech from Mrs. Cai Zhaohui, OEC Vice Dean.

Mrs. Cai started by laying emphasis on punctuality of the attendees. Punctuality is a way to show respect to others and yourself. She commended each association for their remarkable event in the past year. These were; HEART (Nice to meet you), HIH (International Cultural Festival), IMSA (Medical Forum) and ISSA (winning of the China exploration, Sports meet). She quoted words from Tian Le (Thep) “we have two hands, one is to help ourselves and the other is to help others” and with these words she further encouraged the incoming leaders to be more cooperative with each other and the Chinese people. She also believes that if you do something today, you will get what you want and what you deserve in future.

2018 student leaders’ representative, Selina Vimbai talked about her past 3 years experience as a leader and how she had been promoted from being an academic coordinator to a commissioner. ‘’We learn a lot from each other as we collaborate and cooperate with each other. She also advised the incoming leaders to take into account the two main days of their leadership; 1st day of their inauguration and the 2nd day is the handover of their roles. She also acknowledged that what is important is not the name of the association, but the legacy that you leave behind. “Work hard for the name while leaving an influence behind.”

The awarding ceremony of the outgoing leaders commenced with the outgoing leaders receiving their certificates of appreciation followed by the incoming leaders receiving their certificates of appointment. The outgoing presidents from the different associations also handed over their files of work to the incoming presidents.
