Once again, the dawn of a new era of leadership has arrived and it is traditional and essential that the beginning of this era of leadership should be set on the right path.

To ensure this, a two-day training session was held for the leaders of the various associations.

The leaders showed their presence on the 10th of April, ready to acquire good knowledge and wisdom from the speakers on program.

SESSION ONE: TIME MANAGEMENT

The session kicked off with an interesting topic on time management by Dr. Siba. He spoke on how essential it is to manage and balance our time and schedule as leaders so as to be able to effectively execute the role of being a leader, a student and other aspects of person.

SESSION TWO: LEADERSHIP AND MOTIVATION

‘Chinese whispers’, a fun game where one person whispers a message to the other and the other on to the next, was initiated by Dr. Ade, the next speaker on the agenda to emphasize the essence of effective communication. He touched on the ways of practical leadership which include; knowing your members, how to delegate work and ensure it’s done, mentorship and apprenticeship, having an important measure of influence on members.

SESSION THREE: STUDENT ASSOCIATIONS WORKING MODULE

To crown the session, Dr. Arun dove deep into the basic rules and regulations all associations must follow.

SESSION FOUR: EXPERIENCE EXCHANGE WITH CHINESE COUNTERPARTS

The training program continued the next day with the interaction with our Chinese comrades to help further broaden our scope of knowledge and also to bind tightly the alliance and friendship shared amongst ourselves

Finally, a few words were shared by Ms. Cai, the Vice Dean, to encourage and urge us on the work task ahead of us.

In conclusion, the workshop went on well. The leaders liked the idea of having this kind of workshops before start leading their Associations since it calls for total commitment and responsibility.
