On the 3rd of May 2019, JEWELS incoming and outgoing Commission members hosted an Executive’s Retreat at the newly established Donut café in downtown Dashikou's Suning Plaza. Jewels Commission enjoyed the wonderful ambiance, coffee, artworks, flowers and desserts provided and were treated to a photoshoot.

Throughout the duration of the retreat, the JEWELS Commission was inspired by the owner, Minnie, who spoke of her experiences as an entrepreneur, what it takes to maintain her position at the top of her field of education, café etc. and how hard she works to try to cater to the needs of her students. They also learnt how important it is to try to curate an environment that will help one’s mental health to flourish. An environment that is not cluttered, serene and well organized. When mental health is catered to, it is assured that other aspects of health will be bettered as well.

The retreat was the final formal joint meeting between outgoing and incoming Commission members, where final recommendations and advice were given. It was a time for incoming members to receive mentorship from their predecessors and build relationships with them outside of a school setting. The experience also taught incoming Commission members how the JEWELS International Ladies Association should be represented well in various settings.

The gathering turned into a valuable leadership and guidance opportunity as the JEWELS Commission got valuable inspiration and support from their predecessors as well as the owner of the café, Minnie, all while enjoying the beauty of the serene environment.
