5th Medical Synapse Invests Problem-based Learning
The JSU 5th Medical synapse with the theme “To invest PBL among JSU students” took place on the evening of 27th May 2019 at JTQ 210. Being the 5th of its kind, SYNAPSE has become IMSA’s most successful and anticipated event for the past 4 years.
The invited guests were Prof. Jing Gao, Dean of OEC; Ding Laoshi, Director of OEC Teaching Affairs.
The competition was made up of 7 teams and 33 students comprising of both pharmacy and medical students.
The goals for Synapse are to educate students, encourage students to do presentations and research work, sharing medical information and update students on medical advances.
The evening started off with a speech from Prof Jing Gao, Dean of OEC who reminded the audience of the OEC slogan “Dream to succeed, together we can”. Michael Afriye, president of IMSA, gave an introduction of the program and explained briefly on what the synapse is and why they decided to change the approach this year from it merely being a competition to including the Problem Based Learning technique too.
Once more Synapse delivered what they promised and It wasn’t just an educative event but a successful and entertaining one too. We would like to congratulate all teams which took part in this competition and appreciate them for the hard work they put into researching the various topics and delivering them to the audience.
