How to Publish SCI Papers? Seminar by PG Club
On the 2nd of June 2019, about seventy (70) students from various schools in Jiangsu University attended the 1st seminar organized by PG Academic Club in this semester. Dr. Khan and Dr. Prince Harvim were the invited guests who lectured on the topic “how to get my papers published in SCI/SSCI/ESCI journals and how to select a suitable journal for the publication of my manuscript”.
Most postgraduates are encountered with enormous task of publishing their manuscripts in SCI/SSCI/ESCI/EI Journals before they graduate. Also, most students are not aware of the kind of journals that suit their manuscripts and programs they pursue; hence, we need to dismiss the idea that publishing in any of the abovementioned journals is hard and impossible.
Dr. Khan took his time to educate participants in preparation of manuscripts to the point of submission of the manuscript to a journal. He admonished participants to be weary of grammatical errors in their manuscripts before submission.Below are some guidelines before submitting a paper to a journal;
1. Check author’s guidelines of the journal
2. Read extensively on research papers with similar topics
3. Understand the methodology and the analysis of the previous authors
4. Literature review must be very relevant to the hypothesis of one’s manuscript and topic
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Khan said rejection of manuscripts are normal and one should rather use the rejection as a morale booster to work harder in achieving his or her aim of being in JSU. Dr. Prince Harvim, on the hand, talked about how manuscripts are rejected and came out with the following reasons that lead to rejection of manuscripts by journals
1. Scope of the journal
2. Grammar
3. Format of the paper
On how one can easily get his paper published in a journal, Dr Prince Harvim came out with the following guidelines:
1. Reading of good papers in one’s field of study
2. Use old method on a new model
3. Use a new method on an old model

5. Order of writing a paper –
a. Develop a model
