International Students Preparatory Training for Internship in Longshun Aluminum Company
As we await the summer vacation, OEC-Belt and Road Enterprise College in collaboration with Longshun Aluminum Company, Zhenjiang, set up a pre-training session for the 1st Cohort of International students to partake in the internship training during the upcoming summer vacation. Attendees were informed of the company’s main activity, product offerings, and services for further market research purposes. As a prerequisite for the internship, the first session was held on 14 June 2019.
The training session was facilitated by Mr. Wu Wenhao and Dr. Adeleke Banwo. In the presentation on Entrepreneurial Mindset and Benefits of Internship, he informed students on the benefits of internship, immersion and business opportunities with a focus on understanding the business process, context, local market, and the learning potentials they can benefit from participation alongside an overview of the training agenda. Mr Wu informed the students of the proposed training, internship schedules and need to work in groups and also interfaced with the company representatives.
1. Introduction of Longshun Aluminum Company
Presented by Mr. Xue Longjun, the Director of the HR department, Longshun Aluminum was introduced as China Jiangsu Zhenjiang YuanLong Aluminum Co, LTD that is engaged in the production and distribution of Aluminum and its alloys in the form of sheets, strips, and foils. Established in August 2000, the company is located in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province and covers an area of 5000 square meters. Since 2003 a complete control system was built within the company and it has passed the ISO9001:2000 quality certification. The company produces various aluminum products such as:

Ø Aluminum strips material
Ø Aluminum board
Ø Aluminum diamond plate
Ø Aluminum profile
Ø OEM materials
2. Aluminum and Smelting
Presented by Dr. Ju Yulin from the school of Material Science Engineering. This content was well informative as she talked about the manufacturing of Aluminum and its Alloys in the introduction; she pointed out the source and metallurgy of Aluminum. She explained how from bauxite, which is the raw material, Aluminum as the final product is obtained by a salt electrolysis and some chemical and electrical processes. She talked about the properties and usages of Aluminum, one of which is its low density (2.7g/cm3) and its lightweight property that enables its usage in a number of different products such as airplanes, space crafts, cars, and others. Also Aluminum as a standalone has some really good properties, but it becomes even better when mixed up with some other materials such as Mn, Cu, Zn, etc… which are called alloying elements to get really good mechanical properties. She clearly explained how Aluminum Alloys are classified into Deforming Al-alloys and Casting Al-alloys.
3. International Business Dynamics:
Presented by Dr. Dragana Ostic from Overseas Education College. This session was mainly focused on Marketing and Market research methodologies. The marketing strategy of a product basically involves the use of the 4Ps or 8Ps, namely: product, price, Promotion, People, Process, Physical Evidence and Productivity. Usually, the first four Ps out of eight is enough to market a product as the other four will be used where and when necessary. Dr. Dragana also briefed about how to deal with a market research project which starts from online data collection to on field data collection and processing.
4. Questions and answers Session:
Finally, the session ended with some questions asked by attendees; most of which were relevant to the previously discussed topics. Answers to these questions were provided by the respective presenters for better understanding.
