The HeArt memory lane trip with Jewels Association was held on Saturday July 20, 2019 at Yunhe Park from 9am -12pm. The students gathered at the Shanjiang Building from 9:00am and at 9:45am. We set off to the place on Hello bicycles. Riding the bikes to the park was very fun and very beneficial to us as a workout exercise.

The park was about 4km away from campus and it took us almost 45min to get there. The main purpose of the trip was to help relieve students of the boredom of the summer vacations and it also served as an avenue for students to step out of their comfort zones and make new friends. We arrived at the park at around 10:45am and the students were paired into groups of two using randomly drawn names from a box. The paired students were then allowed to wander around to explore the beauty of the park for 30min as well as to converse with their partners to get to know them.

After, we gathered around and had some refreshments whilst drawing some pictures of the unique scenes we saw around. After relaxing for some time to catch our breath, we gathered around and Mr. Moses led the group through a heartfelt discussion on roommate relationships. We talked on issues on how to deal with roommates of a different manner, roommates of different religious backgrounds, among others.

Some students expressed issues about the perceived sense of injustice he felt about buying electricity only for his roommate to waste it. Issues of dirty roommates and alcoholism in the dormitories also came up. The discussion ended successfully and the head of activity (Daniel Sam) made a few remarks and thanked the students who were able to make it for the trip. We exchanged contacts then headed back to school.
