JEWELS International Ladies Association organized an interactive orientation meeting for the 2019 autumn intake of freshmen on December 30, 2019 at School of Pharmacy room 1204. The event began with opening remarks and an introduction of their background, achievements and aspirations of the association by the JEWELS commissioner Gugulethu. The freshers were also given the opportunity to write down questions and comments anonymously about fundamental issues of concern to new students on campus. During the discussion they shared their own personal views and expectations from the association, and the university at large, the session proved to be very lively, engaging and informative. Advice was given about setting and achieving goals as well as participating in activities on campus.

Next on the program was a discussion which was led by Vice Commissioner Aisha that focused on sharing useful exam and study tips such as, ensuring that you get enough rest, having a balanced diet and drinking lots of water, studying with no to low distractions, making a study plan and sticking to it, also continuously reviewing the material you have learned frequently so studying will be made easier. Words of encouragement and inspiration were shared about time management and campus life.

The other commission members were given an opportunity to introduce themselves, their roles in the association and sharing important information regarding accessing study materials, tips for navigating life in China and using online resources. JEWELS would like to thank all the participants for attending the event and wishes all the freshmen a wonderful stay at JSU.
