OEC Annual Chess Tournament | Fun & Strategic Thinking

“Any active being has to be focused; you’ve got to be in the right frame of mind. If your energy is diverted in various directions, you cannot achieve the results. One needs to know when to switch on and switch off. Hence, Chess is in the foreground whilst the rest is in the background”.

With regards to the above, the 1st JSU Annual Chess Tournament was depicted to be “gymnasium of the mind” as well as an exclusive event geared towards, socio-cultural learning experience among students, served as an avenue where OECians will have fun, demonstrate & advance their talents in this regard, develop the spirit of cohesion and inventiveness, as well as ensuring the mental health of students amidst Covid-19.

On June 6, at 18:00 Beijing local time, the 1st ISSA-JSU Annual Chess Tournament commenced where close to 30 participants joined this online event with a high zeal to display. This was the first time ISSA-JSU has itemized such a worthy event as part of its sports events due to the current circumstance we find ourselves. The tournament was a “Round Robin” type chess and individual based.

Participants adopted an optimal mix of proprietary play based on specific protocols to maximize their brain power and efforts in order to excel in the tournament.

The following participants emerged as the top 3 winners at the end of the tourney:

2nd Place: Prince MkharoAlias: MadSlimSpace | Won 5 games

3rd Place: Carlos Enrique Gomez FriasAlias: LeanClassicPhoto | Won 4 games

It is our burning desire to disclose our special and profound gratitude to OEC for supporting and allowing us to organize such an event as well as making it a reality for us. Also, much appreciation to Mr. Ajay Siradhana for his massive contribution by means of technically facilitating the entire online tourney which was a success. Thank you.
