OECians Enhanced Campus Safety Awareness
To thoroughly implement the university's overall deployment on strengthening campus safety management and enhancing the safety awareness of teachers and students, Overseas Education College organized a series of diverse and substantive safety education activities in November. These initiatives aimed to comprehensively improve teachers' and students' safety awareness and emergency response capabilities, effectively safeguarding campus safety and stability.
OEC leadership attaches great importance to safety and stability work, conducting special research and deployment on the college's safety initiatives with a focus on strengthening safety education and guidance for international students. Class teachers actively responded to the college's call by organizing themed class meetings on safety education. They delivered systematic explanations on key areas such as fire safety and personal property safety, and deepened the educational effect through in-depth analysis of typical cases. Following the meetings, all international students signed a Fire Safety Commitment Letter, further reinforcing their sense of safety responsibility.

On November 12, OEC organized teacher and student representatives to participate in a campus fire-fighting and evacuation drill. Under the guidance of professionals, participants gained hands-on experience in operating fire-fighting equipment and evacuating from fire scenes. This immersive and practical training effectively enhanced their practical ability to respond to sudden incidents such as fires.

To further consolidate the effectiveness of fire safety education, OEC collaborated with JSU Security Department and Logistics Department, jointly held a fire emergency evacuation drill at the international student apartments on November 18. Class teachers detailed key knowledge including common causes and hazards of campus fires, alarm procedures, fire escape skills, and initial fire-fighting methods. During the drill, students covered their mouths and noses with towels, bent down to keep a low posture, and quickly and orderly evacuated to a safe area along designated routes. After assembly, a headcount was conducted to ensure all participants were safe. Following the drill, teachers and students also learned and practiced the standardized use of electronic fire extinguishers, further consolidating their fire-fighting skills.

To conduct an in-depth investigation of potential safety hazards in student dormitories, OEC together with JSU Security Department, Logistics Department, and all class teachers, carried out a full-coverage safety inspection of international student apartments on November 19. Inspectors focused on checking the use of wires, sockets, and electrical equipment in dormitories, and investigated violations such as unauthorized wiring and improper use of high-power electrical appliances. On-site rectification requirements were put forward for identified issues to ensure immediate action. Meanwhile, a warning education activity on prohibited electrical appliances was held. Class teachers explained in detail the hazards of prohibited electrical appliances and general knowledge of safe electricity use, guiding students to enhance their awareness of electrical safety and jointly create a safe living environment.

Through a series of solid and effective measures, Overseas Education College has further improved students' fire safety awareness and self-rescue capabilities, fostering a sound atmosphere where "everyone values safety and prevention is prioritized everywhere."
