China-Africa Relationship Think-Tank (CART) in collaboration with Post-Graduate Club on Saturday, 12^th July, 2025, organised a Book Reading Competition using the book titled; The Governance of China volume 4 by the President Xi Jinping.

The objective of the event was to enhance the understanding of international students on the governance principles that have shaped the developmental trajectories of China and how these principles can be adapted to improve the governance of other countries.

Five international students, who registered for the competition, choose their topics from the book, read to understand it implications in relation to their country, and present their understanding of the topic and their opinions on its application.

The event was attended by officials from the Overseas Education College of Jiangsu University who also doubled as judges for the competition.

The five individuals demonstrated their understanding of the selected topic. The presentations involved summaries, governance lessons, and illustrations of how the principles will help transform governance in their various countries.

Three students’ presentation was adjudged the best based on understanding of the chosen topic, clarity of presentation, evidence of applicability of once country, time management, and question answering ability.

At the end, all presenters received a certificate of participation, and a copy of the book.

The event was educational and helped improve the thought processes of the presenters understanding, critical thinking and public presentation skills.

It is our wish that more international students will get involve such reading events to improve their academic excellence.
