2025 Opening Ceremony for International Freshmen
On September 27th, 2025 Opening Ceremony for International Freshmen was held in the Academic Auditorium of our university. Li Hongbo, Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu University Committee, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Leaders from functional departments such as International Office, Security Department, Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School, as well as representatives of different colleges and departments were present at the event. Faculty members of the Overseas Education College and 812 new international students from 80 countries also participated in the ceremony.
In his speech, Li Hongbo introduced the history of Jiangsu University, its disciplinary strengths, and its achievements in internationalization. Centering around the value connotations of "Studying at Jiangsu University," he put forward three hopes for the students: First, be explorers who pursue knowledge with dedication. Utilize the university's high-quality resources to deepen expertise, enhance Chinese proficiency, and actively engage in scientific research, academic forums, and corporate practices to become a well-rounded individuals. Second, be a promoter of mutual cultural learning. Actively integrate into campus life, establish effectively engage with Chinese teachers and students, and participate in events such as the International Culture Festival and "Understanding China" activities to foster mutual understanding and lasting friendships. Third, be contributors to global development. Align aspirations with the needs of our times. Engage actively in Sino-foreign cooperation and exchange, apply knowledge to serve society, and promote people-to-people exchange to build a community with a shared future for humanity.Wu Peng, Dean of the Overseas Education College, provided an introduction regarding the faculty strength, curriculum system, and support services. He stated that the college would make every effort to provide academic support and daily services for international students, helping them truly integrate into the campus and gain a deeper understanding of China. Li Hongyan, a representative of the faculty and one of the Top Ten Most Popular Teachers at Jiangsu University in 2025, delivered a speech in which she encouraged the new students with the message "Language knows no boundaries; a sense of belonging makes a home." She urged the new students to actively learn Chinese, respect their teachers, and open the door to understanding China and integrating into the campus community.

Merwa Rekaibi from Algeria, Chinguun Otgonsuren from Mongolia, and Tagi Mammdov from Azerbaijan, representing undergraduate new students, graduate new students, and continuing students respectively, delivered speeches. They expressed their determination to cherish their time studying in China, actively adapt to the new environment, embrace diverse cultures, and strive to become outstanding talents who connect China with the world and serve global development.
The attending leaders presented certificates to representatives of recipients of the Chinese Government Scholarship, the Jiangsu Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students, the Presidential Scholarship, and Excellent Volunteer Representatives.
The ceremony ended after all faculty members and students sang the university anthem together.
After the ceremony, the Overseas Education College held a new international student assembly. The class teacher team made a collective appearance and interacted with the new students. They introduced support for alumni development, student associations, and branded activities, encouraging the new students to actively participate in campus practices, broaden their international perspectives, and comprehensively enhance their overall abilities.
