The Training on University- Enterprise cooperation was held on the 1st of June 2021 with more than 140 turnout, both online and offline. Professor Gao Jing,the CPC Commite Secretary of OEC, Dr Cui, the vice dean of OEC, Dr. Dragana Ostic, Dr. Borah Prasad Siba and Ms. Chen Yushan, the vice director of Belt and Road Cooperation Office, graced us with presence.

Dr. Dragana Ostic being the first speaker notified the students on an opportunity of a life time. She introduced seven companies that are interested in working with JSU students to bring innovation in different industries by providing overseas and domestic offline practical training. The companies mentioned were Zhenjiang Longshun Metal Technology Co., Ltd, Daquan Group Co. Ltd, Deyuan Group Co. Ltd, Jiangsu Yueda Intelligent Agricultural Equipment Co. Ltd, Haojing Cloud Computing Technology Co. Ltd, Huabao Group and Yihe Co. Ltd.

After the detailed introduction, Dr Borah Prasad Siba took over with an intriguing presentation based on SUCCESS and EXCUSES explaining to the students how these two do not go together. In his presentation he quoted Carol Burnett saying “only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.” The students played a short and interesting game where two teams were given letters that they had to arrange into a seven-letter word. One team came up with the word EXCUSES whilst the other had the word SUCCESS. Expatiating on these two words, Dr. Siba made the students understand that SUCCESS and EXCUSES aren’t symbiotically related, hence “they do not talk to each other”. If you give Excuses forget about Success and if you want success forget about excuses. Thus, as respected OECians, students all need to persevere to attain success desisting from excuses. He also talked about balancing students’ school work and social lives. One of the points he stressed on was TIME MANAGEMENT and how important it is to make effective plans that are aided with action. Procrastination is a thief of time. If people make plans and don’t act on them, the whole planning process becomes a total fiasco and a waste of valuable time.

Professor Gao expressed how helpful this training was and shared some Chinese proverbs. I know I speak for everyone when I say, we surely can’t wait for the next session(我生待明日，万事成蹉跎). A very educative training it was, thus as OECians, students deem it prudent with high esteem to divulge students’ weighty appreciation to Overseas Education College for making this event a reality for students based on its high importance as students pursue their educational career in JSU-China.
