The Power Up event organized by IBSA and PG CLUB was held on 4th August, 2021 from 2-4pm online (Tencent meeting). The event was hosted by Pernille Skov Sander and facilitated by Dr. Ebenezer Larnyo, Mr. Elvis Adam Alhassan and two excellent postgraduate students (Walter M.C and Simombela Mikunga) who spoke about their personal transition experiences. OECians showed up, with more than 50 participants, to grip the chances surrounding this extraordinary and educative discourse.

Dr. Larnyo set the ball rolling by giving a brief yet very informative lecture on thesis writing. His presentation went into greater depth on several critical topics like the ingredients of an excellent thesis, funneling your introduction, systematic literature review, literature sources, methodology, discussion and policy implications, conclusion, limitations and future studies and best way to input references.

Right afterwards, Mr. Elvis Adam Alhassan took the floor and presented on choosing a suitable program for postgraduate studies. He laid down a few important factors to consider when selecting a program. Walter M.C then gave another thorough presentation with respect to the application process of Jiangsu University Presidential scholarship (Admission process) and his smooth transitioning from UG to PG, factors to know. He provided a QR code for students who applied for PG programs September 2021 intake.

Simombela Mikunga also spoke about his personal experience in Jiangsu University and how the transition was. Why he decided to do his masters program in JSU, what inspired his program selection, and his overall experience were gaudily elaborated on.

Finally a closing remark was given by PG CLUB President Nana Adwoa Nkuma Johnson. It was a very educative workshop, thus OECians who participated deem it prudent to express their deep gratitude to IBSA and PG-Club of the Overseas Education College, Jiangsu University for making this program a reality.
