Engineering Epicentre Tour Uncover The Innovation at Jiangsu University

The tour began with a warm welcome from Professor Xu, the Laboratory Head, who explained essential laboratory protocols. Professor Gu Heng then provided an insightful introduction, discussing various Chinese associations for student competitions and upcoming opportunities. He also engaged in a Q&A session.

Participants first visited the Robot Department for an overview of robot applications. The tour continued to the Digital Manufacturing section, where students learned about 3D printing, additive manufacturing machines, and laser printing devices. It concluded at the production line with a review of intricately assembled machinery.

OECians extend their heartfelt appreciation to the AIES executives, dedicated staff, and organizers whose efforts made this tour a success.


Success Stories

The "Success Story" was a two-day event aimed at providing international students, both business and non-business majors, with valuable insights from some of China's top business leaders.

Day 1

The event kicked off with an engaging exposition by IBSA's McDonald Mpundu, followed by a presentation from the first guest speaker, Mr. Khalid Rasouli, an international trade specialist. Mr. Rasouli shared essential insights on how to start a business as a foreigner in China, emphasizing the importance of acquiring basic skills and practical techniques, such as learning the Chinese language. His presentation significantly boosted the confidence of students who aspire to establish various businesses in China.

Day 2

The second session featured Mr. Zoran Pavic, the Director of Operations for Mercedes-Benz, who has over 30 years of career experience. Mr. Pavic delivered an inspirational and informative presentation, detailing his career path and experiences working in both Chinese and international environments. He also addressed every career-related question raised by the students. This session provided attendees with valuable professional guidance and industry insights.

The event successfully equipped students with essential knowledge and inspiration from industry leaders, enhancing their understanding of business dynamics in China.


American High School Students Visited Jiangsu University

A delegation of American high school students participating in the China-US (Tempe) Summer Student Exchange Program visited Jiangsu University. They explored the university’s rich history and cultural heritage, as well as the development of education in China and traditional Chinese medicine.

The visit began with tours of the Jiangsu University History Museum and the China Agricultural Machinery Culture Exhibition Hall, showcasing the university’s century-old legacy and the evolution of agricultural machinery in China.

At Overseas Education College, Dean Wu Peng welcomed the students and introduced the university's international education programs and support for international students.

Guided by international student volunteers, the group toured various departments, including School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, the library, and School of Medicine. They also engaged in Hanfu cultural activities organized by the school's Youth League Committee.

The last stop was School of Pharmacy, where the Dean, Professor Wei Yuan provided an overview of the school's history and study opportunities. The students were introduced to cutting-edge 3D cell printing technology and engaged in hands-on activities such as making sachets, fragrances, and rubbings. This allowed them to witness the integration of traditional herbal practices with contemporary pharmaceutical techniques.

Hand-In-Hand (HIH) hosted an exciting garage sale that brought together enthusiastic students and dedicated volunteers. The event showcased a wide array of items and was a resounding success. The day was filled with vibrant community spirit and camaraderie. Attendees enjoyed browsing through the unique finds, and the collaborative effort made the event truly unforgettable.

This memorable day showcased the strength and unity of our community. This garage sale is not only a trade of second-hand goods, but also a transmission of emotions, bringing new life to old things, promoting thrift and greenery.
