JSUers Shine @ 2024 "B&R" Youth Sports Exchange Week (Jiangsu)

On May 24th, the 2024 "Belt and Road" Youth Sports Exchange Week (Jiangsu) kicked off at Luomahu Beach Park in Suqian. Our school organized three teams in all, with two to participate in the “ Belt and Road” International Youth Men’s 3X3 Basketball Invitational Tournament, and one to participate in the International Youth Orienteering Training Camp. Finally, we carried off great prizes with flying colors, with the two teams placed 3rd and 9th respectively in the basketball tournament, and the third team winning the women’s individual championship and the team championship in the orienteering event.

Not counting in the Enlightenment Star team which comprises only Chinese students, a total of 30 international student teams with over 160 foreign students in Jiangsu Province participated in this year’s 3X3 basketball invitational tournament. From the exciting group cross-match to the qualifying round and then to the finals, our school’s international students in each basketball team cooperated with each other very well, demonstrating a great tenacious fighting spirit and an excellent competitive level. Facing strong and well-trained opponents, they still fought bravely and finally won the 3rd and 9th place in this competition respectively.

Orienteering is one of the favorite sports among international students in our school. In this competition, our international students leveraged their strengths and worked together, and won high scores both as an individual and as a whole team, finally carrying off the women’s individual championship and the team championship for Jiangsu University.

As one of the important iconic activities of Jiangsu’s “Belt and Road” cultural exchange, this event not only includes sports competitions, but also has rich and diverse historical experiences, cultural exchanges, and team activities, etc. Through this event, the international students can gain a better understanding of Suqian City, Jiangsu Province, and even the whole China. After the event, international students expressed their fervent hope that they would have more opportunities to participate in such activities, which can not only tone up their bodies, but also help them to appreciate the scenic beauty and cultural charm of Jiangsu Province!
