Animal Centre Visit on World Laboratory Animals Day: Honoring Animal Contributions to Science

In commemoration of World Laboratory Animals Day, a collaborative visit was organized at our animal center, bringing together Chinese and international students. The visit aimed to honor the invaluable contributions of animals to scientific progress while emphasizing their welfare.

The day commenced with a solemn moment of reflection as students expressed gratitude for the animals' sacrifices in advancing scientific knowledge. A discussion on the principles of the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—underscored the commitment to ethical research practices.

In an emotional gesture, students collectively penned heartfelt tributes on a banner, symbolizing our respect and appreciation for the animals' role in research.

The event not only educated participants but also inspired them to advocate for compassionate and responsible treatment of laboratory animals.


IMSA First Aid Competition: A Collaboration of International and Chinese Teams

IMSA and the First Aid Association organized a First Aid Competition, which featured 13 international teams and 15 Chinese teams. The competition included CPR and Bandaging Rounds, promoting teamwork and precision in wound care. All teams showcased their expertise in life-saving techniques, fostering a spirit of teamwork and amicable rivalry.

During the event, participants shared knowledge and techniques, enhancing the collective understanding of first aid practices. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as camaraderie and enthusiasm filled the venue. It was a testament to the dedication and passion of all involved, highlighting the importance of preparedness and quick response in emergencies. Overall, the event was a resounding success, characterized by fun, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to promoting safety and well-being.


Engineering Entrepreneur Unleashed Workshop: A Resounding Success

The Engineering Entrepreneur Unleashed Workshop, organized by AIES in partnership with IBSA, featured three experts discussing entrepreneurship. Professor Cai Li delivered a comprehensive presentation on innovation and cultivating a risk-taking mindset, providing valuable insights for attendees. Professor Yang Lilli demonstrated her expertise in identifying market gaps and transforming them into innovative ventures, fostering lively discussions among participants.

Ms. Mwansa, an entrepreneur, provided an overview of prototyping and pitching techniques. Students gained an understanding of how ideas can be transformed into tangible prototypes and compelling pitches. After the presentations, AIES President Christian Mulbah presented gifts to the professors on behalf of AIES.

During the workshop, students engaged in prototype crafting and a pitching competition, fostering creativity and passion among teams as they brainstormed, sketched, and built their prototypes, culminating in presentations. The judges (Dr. Sheikh, Ms. Fathiya, and Ms. Chambalile) were impressed by the depth of thought, clarity, and passion displayed by every team. Three outstanding teams were awarded EEU2024 medals, group gifts, and certificates, showcasing their dedication and ingenuity. Attendees also received G3 stamps.

AIES extends its heartfelt gratitude to all participants, speakers, and organizers who contributed to making this workshop a remarkable success.


Academic Workshop: Navigating Challenges in Postgraduate Studies

"Experiences from JSU PhD Graduates (Post-Docs)" was the focus of an academic workshop hosted by the Post Graduate Academic Club at Jiangsu University. This event, designed for international postgraduate students, aimed to share insights on overcoming challenges in their studies. Mr. Wang Bin, Vice Dean of the Overseas Education College, attended and provided advice, encouraging students to give feedback for improved services.

The workshop was moderated by Emmanuel Agyenim-Boateng, the president of the PG Club. Speakers Dr. Grace Bahizire and Dr. John-Nelson Ekumah, both JSU PhD alumni and current postdoctoral scholars, discussed their PhD experiences, including campus life, interactions with supervisors, publication, processing of journals rejections, and meeting graduation requirements. They also emphasized the importance of research teams and peer mentorship.

The PG Club leadership expressed its deep gratitude to Mr. Wang Bin, the resource persons, and all PG students who attended the event.


May Day Campus Cleaning

On May 1st, during the May Day Campus Cleaning Activity organized by Hand-In-Hand (HIH), students including notable teachers Dr. Abdul-Nazif and Mr. Wilson Liang came together to clean public areas, dormitories, and streets.

The event was aimed to promote community involvement and environmental stewardship, fostering a sense of responsibility towards maintaining clean and tidy surroundings.
