Vice President Prof. Cai Met International Freshmen at OEC

On September 5th, JSU Vice President Prof. Cai Yingfeng visited OEC and met international freshmen of 2023 Autumn.

On the 3rd floor of Jing Building, more than 100 new students from Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Malaysia, Ghana and other countries came to complete their registration procedures on the same morning. Accompanied by leaders and staff of OEC, Vice President Prof. Cai visited various areas, interacted closely with the international students, and encouraged them to study hard at JSU. She also urged them to act as ambassadors of friendship, conveying the voice of Jiangsu University and the stories of Jiangsu Province.

Subsequently, Vice President Prof. Cai proceeded to conference room and had a meeting with OEC leaders. Associate Prof. Huang Ting, Secretary of CPC OEC Branch, delivered a presentation on behalf of the OEC titled CPC Building Leading, CPC and Administration Integration Promoting High-Quality Development of International Student Education of JSU. The presentation covered the comprehensive results and landmark achievements of OEC implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of CPC, the role of CPC building in guiding high-quality development, strengthening international communication capacity building, constructing a 'Four-in-One' education system for international students to better understand China, and cultivating talent who are knowledgeable about and friendly towards China. It also addressed the implementation of the '14th Five-Year Plan' for international student education development and the 2023 annual work objectives and tasks.

Vice Deans, including Prof. Su Jianhong, Associate Prof. Cai Zhaohui and Dr. Cui Yong introduced their respective areas of responsibility, including teaching affairs of English-taught undergraduate students, student affairs, admissions, innovation and entrepreneurship of international students, 'Belt & Road' industry-university cooperation, and the cultivation of talent for international organizations. Office directors also introduced themselves and engaged in discussions.

Vice President Prof. Cai expressed her approval for the achievements in OEC’s CPC affairs and administrative work as well as the leadership team construction. She hoped that, by focusing on high-quality international talent cultivation, OEC could make contributions to the 'Belt and Road' initiative through active participation in international organization cooperation and key project promotion. She emphasized the importance of integrating practical education and "Experience China” and encouraged active involvement in the development of an internationalized faculty.

In conclusion, Vice President Prof. Cai provided several directives:

First, while continuing to enhance the quality of international students and expand the quantity, there should be a continuous effort to optimize the diversify of international students, and increase the university's reputation and influence worldwide.

Second, the development of international student education should align further with the university's academic strengths and distinctive features. It is necessary to utilize platform resources to expand high-level international academic cooperation and strengthen collaboration with relevant departments.

Third, we shall continuously summarize development experiences and integrate advantageous resources. It is important to recognize and create distinctive and recognizable highlights of international student education, contributing consistently to the university's high-quality development.
