From April 7th to 9th, Seminar of Chinese Universities on International Communication Ability and Telling Chinese Stories by International Students was successfully held by Overseas Education College, Jiangsu University , which was authorized by China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE). 

Mr. Chen Dali, Deputy Director-general of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Zong Wa, Deputy Secretary-general (Secretary-general level）of CEAIE, Ms. Shi Yunyu, Director of International Cooperation and Exchanges of Jiangsu Education Department, Ms. Lan Jingjing, Director of International Cooperation and Exchanges of Zhejiang Education Department, Prof. Yan Xiaohong, President of JSU, Dr. Dong Hongbo, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of University of Nottingham Ningbo China, and other leaders and experts were present at the seminar. More than 250 participants, including heads of university college for international student education from 24 provincial areas including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Gansu and so on, as well as the teacher representatives of JSU attended the seminar. The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. Zhao Yutao, Vice President of JSU.

Chen Dali pointed out that international student mobility is an important aspect of the internationalization of higher education and one of the most important forms of cross-cultural exchange and shaping global educational consensus. He proposed to integrate China-related knowledge into the entire process of international student education and carry out a series of brand activities to help international students fully understand Chinese stories in a way that is easy for them to accept. Universities shall focus on the contents and ways, improving their ability to tell Chinese stories. Advantages and resources shall be utilized to actively create opportunities for students to better understand China.

Zong Wa expressed thanks to JSU for its efforts and high-quality conference work in hosting this seminar. He emphasized the importance of international students' understanding China, telling Chinese stories and enhancing international communication abilities. He also introduced the newly established Journal of International Education hosted by the Ministry of Education and operated by CEAIE.

Shi Yunyu introduced various measures taken by the Jiangsu Education Department to encourage universities to strengthen their international communication abilities and build a platform for international students telling Chinese stories. She pointed out that universities in Jiangsu Province actively leverage their resource advantages and continue to play a leading role in international communication and participation in global governance. A better understanding of China promotes the sustainable high-quality development of education for international students and provides international human resources for the economic and social development.

Yan Xiaohong introduced the achievements and advantages of JSU's international student education and proposed that as an important role for international exchange and mutual learning of civilizations, universities should deeply implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, actively empower international students to understand China, tell Chinese stories, and take multiple measures to respond to the call and assist the spread of Chinese culture.

In the keynote speech part, Prof. Ji Deqiang, Vice Dean of the Institute for a Community with a Shared Future of CUC, Ms. Lan Jingjing, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange of Zhejiang Education Department, and Prof. Gao Jing, Dean of OEC, respectively shared their views on the Metanarrative and Public Opinion Field of China's International Communication, cultivating the Study in Zhejiang Brand to Enhance International Communication Efficiency and high quality international student education's contribution. Associate Prof. Huang Ting, Secretary of CPC Branch hosted the keynote speech part.In addition, Speakers from Shanghai University, Jinan University, Jiangsu Normal University, Zhengzhou University, Northwest University, Southern Medical University, Wenzhou Medical University and others shared and discussed their research results and work experience from various aspects, such as international communication abilities construction, international talent cultivation promoting the spread of Chinese culture, China-related knowledge education, university-enterprise cooperation, and information technology enhancing international communication.
