OECians Understand China Through a "Low-Carbon Zhenjiang"

It started as a burning desire of living diversity as we shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place in a different way for the first time.

This revitalized OEC-JSU in collaboration with Zhenjiang Government to organize a two-day field trip dubbed “Understand China Through Low-Carbon Zhenjiang". In July, were the distinctive days scheduled for this educative field trip for JSU foreign students led by OEC staff. 41 international students from different countries took part in this exclusive trip to better understand China.

The entire program commenced with an insightful lecture on “Road to Innovations in Construction of Beautiful and Low Carbon China” by Ass. Prof. Long who is the director of the Institution of Resources and Environmental policy in Jiangsu University as well as lecture on “Climate Change and Urban Resilience: Perspectives on Energy and Carbon Emissions” by Assoc. Prof. Wang Peng the director of Research Center for Urban Environment and Engineering Safety Behavior System in Jiangsu university.

Students understood that the establishment of car manufacturing company by "Beijing Automobile and Manga" has opened up a new-fangled history of China’s electric automobile industry, witnessed the development of China automobile industry, and made Zhenjiang one of the substantial cradles of the new China's e-vehicle industry.

Students later visited Huaiying Village of Zhenjiang and experienced the lush green farming lands and also history of the village.

Still in the second half of the Perception of China, on the next day, OECians further embarked on the trip to Yangzhong city where we precisely visited a solar power generation field and Yangzhong Zero Emission Park. After lunch, students proceeded to visit Pearl S. Buck Museum, Zhenjiang Museum and finally boat ride at Jinshan Lake and Yangtze River.

We understood that the museums portrayed prominent history and fine arts of the entire city of Zhenjiang. Students were taken round to observe the collections in these museums which are categories of painting and calligraphy, embroidery, copper ware, lacquer-ware, ancient map, coins, inscription on pure Chinese ancient literature, pottery and porcelain, sculpture, costumes, archeology, relics of minority groups, revolutionary relics, among others.

With more than 5 years operation of Yangzhong solar power generation field and Yangzhong Zero Emission Park, these solar power generation fields in Zhenjiang stands as an innovative industrial tourist area that understands as the history of solar power development in New China, experiences modern solar power production process, and feels solar power generation culture. In view of this, overseas students from JSU witness the elegance of China's self-production of solar power expansion.

The trip was successful and all participants expressed their excitement and hope to have more of similar visits in future due to its uniqueness and exposure.

It’s our burning desire to disclose our special and profound gratitude to OEC and Zhenjiang Government for giving us this boundless opportunity to partake in such an educative trip. Also, much appreciation to OEC staff for their lovely support and efforts upon us throughout the trip.
