Manage Health With Love and Technology

"When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot manifest itself, strength cannot fight, wealth becomes useless, and intelligence cannot be applied." These were the opening words from the Master of Ceremony, Safa, which launched the ceremony which took place on the 19th of June, 2022. The event aimed at shedding light upon the importance of health through the creative use of business and marketing skills, in addition to encouraging people to improve their health and well-being. With great enthusiasm, OECians actively availed themselves to take part in this educative event.

This first-of-its-kind event started by honoring the invited guests and dignitaries who have worked tirelessly to ensure that all Jiangsu University students are well equipped with the knowledge and tools geared towards propelling them to not only better their health but also take advantage of the new innovative medical technology in China.

Dr. Xu Xiao, a beloved pharmacology instructor and the Patron of IMSA, ascended the podium to deliver a speech titled "Health Management Starts With You and Me." She commenced with a brief definition of health and continued by explaining how leading a healthy social, mental, and physical life would be much more advantageous to boosting healthy hormones and enhancing our quality of life. “The healthier we become, the happier we will be” was the last phrase as she concluded her talk.

The winners for the Overseas Education College 2022 Essay Contest on Health Consciousness were announced. In this contest, students were encouraged to use their wits to raise awareness on the theme "Health Consciousness" and the top three essays were chosen from among the numerous entries received. Winners—Ms. Marcia-Anne Mpofu, Ms. Fathiya Said, and Ms. Safa, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively—were presented with awards by Associate Prof. Huang Ting, Executive Deputy Secretary of the OEC CPC Branch.

Next was a winning speech "I Can Manage My Health" by Ms. Marcia. Her message was about how stress or depression may damage our health in our daily lives and how we can all fight it by improving our confidence, health, and spirits in seemingly simple ways.

Ms. Wendy Solomon in her speech on togetherness, divulged her heartfelt gratitude to the JSU leaders, staff, student body, businesses, and Zhenjiang residents who in oneness have shown love, care and emotional support to student's family especially in helping with his medical bills during these trying times.

The event then followed with the most emotional part. In response to a recent case, Mr. Xiao Hongjun, vice president of Konsung Health Care then stepped up to the stage with a donation in the form of a cheque to assist one of our own, a colleague, a friend, and a fellow brother who is facing serious health issues and ICU treatment. Ms. Wendy Solomon, a relative of the student with serious health issue walked up to accept the cheque.A manager at Konsung Health Care took the floor and gave a brief overview of the company. The culmination of the event was marked by the launch of the "Konsung Cup" competition, introduced by Associate Professor Fan Mingyue from School of Management with its goal purported to inspire students all over the world to expand their knowledge of medical technology and business, in which participants can win a variety of prizes. Dignitaries wished all participants an utmost success. As OECians, we deem it judicious with high reverence to disclose our weighty appreciation to Overseas Education College of Jiangsu University for making this event a reality for us based on its high importance to our health wellbeing as we pursue our educational career in JSU-China.
